The sole purpose for me attending collage at ECSU was to learn how to improve my skills in computer and electronic repair. That was 4 years ago my name is Michael Pugh a senior at ECSU. I'm devoted to my love of electronics and the care of them, my goal is to become a system administrator. In order to achieve my goal I've gained a vast amount of experience outside the classroom. Mostly related with the refurbishing or repair of PC's and laptops.

I've replaced and installed CD diskette and hard drives, added RAM as well as many different types of human interface cards and home networks. In addition to that I've done many projects in class from tracking the source of malicious software to monitoring packets on a local network. I've even taken classes to prepare myself for my A+ Certification.

While in class we completed such task as installing operating systems and dismantling computers after which we would connect to a network to allow Internet access which also enabled the PC's to share a printer. These projects allowed me to bring personal projects to class. One of the personal projects I was allowed to do required me to open a computer clean its components dismantle an external hard drive and install it into a computer as a slave. However the most interesting project I took on dealt with the Cisco Systems network at my school. Many of my peers were buying new Vista computers and laptops for school only problem was that Cisco hadn't yet released a patch for the vista operating system. So I created a second network off the schools networks which had wireless capabilities along with direct link via Ethernet cable. I found that as long as the administrator of my network met all the demands for the Cisco firewall that anyone could "piggy back" off my bandwidth with full online capabilities.

My enrollment at ECSU has been one of enlightenment. From the classes I've taken to the experience I've gained. I know that the knowledge I gained will serve me well in achieving my goal of becoming a system administrator.
